A 'GENTLE giant' who was killed in Newport on Tuesday was playing on a trampoline with a friend's children just 20 minutes before his death.

Lee Crewe has today been named as the victim of an incident in Maindee on Tuesday evening.

Tributes have been pouring in since the 36-year-old's death, with some describing Lee as a 'gentle giant'.

Sadie Calverley, a close friend, said that Lee had been playing with her children 20 minutes before he was killed.

"He would always just turn up, telling me his arms are bigger than my thighs, just normal banter as that was him.

"He went on the trampoline with my kids and he was proper laughing, they all were.

"I still have his laugh stuck in my head, lee struggled for so long with his mental health, men don’t get recognised enough.

"My heart is shattered, wishing I could have saved him, why didn't I keep him here longer.

“I will never feel okay as this has shattered my heart into a million pieces, I can't stop thinking of his poor mum, dad and family.

“I am just so thankful you gave me a big cwtch before you left, I'm heartbroken it's going to be the last one.

"This is life sadly, here today, gone tomorrow but I'll cherish our memories, messages and voice notes.

"Sleep tight my friend, love you loads, you are a real number one mukka.

"As you would say Sadie your lady, mukkas until the end."

Lee has been described as a good friend who was always there for anyone as friends and family members have left floral tributes at the scene in Chepstow Road where he died.

More than 100 tributes have already been posted on social media in his memory.
