A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy was bitten by a dog while he was riding on his bike and now needs crutches to walk until the wound heals.
Danny Morgan from Heol Edward Lewis, Gelligaer was happily riding his bike and the Alsatian cross jumped up and bit his leg.
The police were informed of the situation and the dog was destroyed after it was identified.
Danny's mum Teresa said: "Danny is scared of other dogs now and is weary of going out because of what happened to him.
"He is a very active boy and is a great drummer. He can't play now because of his injuries and won't be able to go to his lessons."
Now Danny has had to take medicine to heal the gash and wear a bandage to stop it getting infected.
He said: "I was riding along and felt the dog bite me but I did not realise it was that bad until I rode off.
"I got to the play area where we go and had to lie down because of the pain."

His mum said: "Some of Danny's friends mums came out to help him and saw what had happened to him so they bandaged his leg up."
Teresa Morgan had warned the authorities about this particular dog and was concerned that is could attack someone.
She said: "Our dogs are kept behind a gate and can't get out. I am sorry that the dog, which attacked Danny had to be put down.
"Danny is used to his own pet dogs but now he is very wary of dogs he doesn't know. The bite will heal but the psychological scars will not go so easily. I think my children should be able to play outside without having to worry about getting bitten."
