Well here we go again - Spring has sprung the grass has ris, I wonder where the lawn mower is?
Yep, there is so much you can do for your garden in March, we really have no excuse, not even the weather.
I was working on a customer 's garden yesterday and it was beautiful until about 3pm, then the heavens opened on me. But I had to get finish the job, and there was no one to delegate to, so I carried on and got well and truly soaked.
But do you know what? I really it, admittedly this was helped by the knowledge my beloved was waiting to run a hot bath for me. But more than that, the sense of satisfaction and achievement made my damp discomfort worthwhile.
Here are a few things you can start to do this month.
Start off seed potatoes, onion sets, and other hardy and easy to grow veg such as radish, spring onions and peas.
All the recent mild and wet weather will have got lawns growing, if it dries up you could try a very high first cut.
Plant up shrubs and other hardy plants in borders and tubs. Visit the Nurseries and Garden Centres now - while the staff have time to help you.
Feed just about everything in your garden, rain will have washed a lot of nutrients away. I always use a long lasting slow release feed (such as Vitax Q4, or Fish blood and Bone) they can last for up to six months.
Watch out for slugs and snails they love damp conditions, and can go a munching with great gusto in March.
Show them who is boss.
