UK regional airline, Linksair, has commenced as the new operator of the North-South Wales air service between Cardiff-Wales Airport and Anglesey Airport (RAF Valley).

The twice-daily weekday air service taking under an hour to get between Cardiff and Anglesey, is available from only £19 one-way including taxes and charges, in a programme supported by the Welsh Government to aid connectivity between the South and North of the country for business or leisure purposes.

When announcing Linksair as the governments new preferred partner late last year, Edwina Hart, Transport Minister for the Welsh Government, said: “I am committed to improving business connectivity throughout Wales to promote economic growth. This service does that and creates more tourism opportunities by greatly reducing journey times between north-west Wales and Cardiff. I am also pleased that we have managed to reduce the cost to the taxpayer on this contract.

"Our research shows that the majority of passengers are using the service for business and they use it because it saves time. We have responded to their feedback by providing a later return flight in this new contract to allow more time for business. The service has also proved popular for leisure and tourism and I hope the new flexible ticket options will encourage more of these passengers.”

LinksAir who have now been operating from Cardiff for two years, will shortly announce new Cardiff connections to this service that joins the Energy Island of Anglesey and North-Wales to the countries aviation hub at Cardiff and the South of Wales as part of a fresh new marketing campaign to increase passengers on this vital economic Wales air link.

Commercial manager for the airline Roger Hage said: “We at Linksair are delighted to have been appointed by the Welsh Government to now both operate and sell this vital economic Wales air link from allowing us to add a combination of low fares, flexibility in booking, quality service and new routes in the new year to add to the Cardiff to Anglesey (RAF Valley) service with its Energy Island developments and leisure importance. We are delighted to be adding this service to our scheduled network alongside our increasing charter and contract flying.”

Initially the schedule will offer an 0740 and 1625 departure from Cardiff to Anglesey on Monday to Thursday, with an 0740 and 1525 on Fridays, arriving at 0835 and 1720 (1620 Fridays). The return service will now leave Anglesey at 0855 and 1740 on weekdays (1640 on Fridays) arriving Cardiff at 0950 and 1835 (1735 Fridays).

Linksair’s 19-seat pressurised fast-turboprop aircraft can also be booked for private charters such as corporate or sporting requirements, saving your company or friends and family time and money when groups need to travel. Hop over to Ireland for a day to see some rugby, to the Isle of Man for the TT races or get your staff there and back in the day.

Flights are available to book at www.linksair.co.uk or via 0844 8002411 or via your local travel agent. Fares from just £19 one-way will be available, with low baggage charges of just £5 and flight changes available.
