Jennifer Aniston has said it's unfair to put pressure on women about having babies.

The former Friends star is often quizzed about when she is planning to marry fiance Justin Theroux and start a family.

The 45-year-old said on America's Today Show that as far as she is concerned she has "birthed" and "mothered" many things and doesn't feel that her value is defined by whether she is married or has had a baby.

Horrible Bosses star Jen told how she had previously discussed the issue with feminist Gloria Steinem: "I'd talked to her personally about this for a while, just because it is such an issue of, like, 'Are you married yet? Are you going to have your babies yet?' It's just constant. It's like, I don't know!

"I don't have this sort of checklist of things that have to be done, and if they're not checked, then I've failed some part of my feminism or my value as a woman because I haven't birthed a child.

"I've birthed a lot of things and feel like I've mothered many things, and I don't think it's fair to put that pressure on people."

The actress is a paparazzi favourite but confessed she doesn't understand why people are so interested in her life.

"If you have an answer to that, please let me know. I don't know! I don't know," she said.
