Hollyoaks has confirmed that Danny Mac will leave the soap early next year.

Danny has played Dodger Savage for the last four years in the Channel 4 show, but, according to Digital Spy, has decided to leave to pursue other acting projects.

The soap hasn’t revealed yet what his exit storyline will be, but it is rumoured to be something explosive.

Dodger has recently found himself torn between three women – his girlfriend Maxine (Nikki Sanderson), his ex-lover Theresa (Jorgie Porter) and his twin sister Sienna (Anna Passey).

Maxine has recently given birth to her baby with Dodger’s dad Patrick (Jeremy Sheffield) from their previous relationship, Theresa has given birth to Dodger’s baby who he didn’t know about during the pregnancy, and Sienna has discovered her long-lost daughter was actually fathered by Dodger, who she had a one-night stand with before she realised they were related.

Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood recently said: “Dodger will be one of the stars of the show [over the next few months] as we focus on the battle for his heart and body from the good, the bad and the very, very wrong; Maxine, Theresa and Sienna.”

Danny has also said: “He’s going to be torn between all of the major women in his life – Sienna, Maxine and Theresa. There are also three kids in his life because of that. That’s going to be massive and it’s crazy how much Dodger just gets dragged all over the place.

“Dodger is the guy who’s always trying to do the right thing, but in this situation it becomes an impossibility, because doing the right thing in one place is very much doing the wrong thing somewhere else. He’ll be more torn than ever before.”
