The Undateables has ended in wedding bells for the first time for one of the couples introduced on the show.

Challis Orme met Brent Zillwood, who has Tourette’s syndrome, on the Channel 4 documentary about people with various medical conditions and disabilities looking for love, and far from being undateable, Brent is now a married man.

Despite his condition meaning he shouted out “S***head!” “B****!” and “F*** you, man” on their first date, Challis fell for Brent and when he proposed in the pub where they’d first met she didn’t hesitate in saying yes.

Brent, 23, told the Daily Mirror: “I thought I’d be searching for The One for quite a long time. And when I first saw Challis I thought she was out of my league. On our first date I was terrified, but she wanted to be with me.

“I loved the fact she enjoyed the whole Tourette’s thing which means I can let it out. If I did twitch she just laughed and it kind of worked for me this time. She’s someone who I can say absolutely anything out loud to and it will go over her head. So my Tourette’s is less worked up.

“I had forgotten what it was like to be in a relationship when I met Challis. Meeting her was special.”

Challis, 26, admitted: “I didn’t know much about it and it was a bit shocking at first, but once he explained it to me I realised there was nothing he could do about it.

“But I fancied him straight away and I’ve never been self-conscious about it. I love him for lots of reasons.”

Brent went on: “Before I met her I was very unhealthy and never ate properly because the medication I was on caused loss of appetite. I didn’t sleep much either. I wasn’t very happy.

“Challis gives me confidence in my life and I think I am much more healthy. And when she is around, my Tourette’s dies right down.”

He also talked about their wedding, which just the two of them attended in Las Vegas: “My Tourette’s was well behaved except when we picked up our marriage licence and I was shouting things out. But it wasn’t a problem.

“I was more worried about getting my vows out. I knew Challis wouldn’t mind if the Tourette’s came out but I didn’t want to mess up. So I gave myself a talking to and it was fine. I was very pleased with myself. Then Challis and I went out and got drunk together. It was perfect.”

Challis added: “Married life is great. It cemented our love and we are rock solid.”

Talking about the future, Brent explained: “I want to be an ambassador for children with Tourette’s to show that it needn’t rule your life. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and I want to share that.”
