The Expendables have already made their mark on the big screen – and now the action heroes are set to take over television.

Sylvester Stallone, who stars and writes the films, will be an executive producer on the small-screen adaptation, which is being developed by Fox, reported Deadline.

Like the movies, the Expendables TV show – which is being written by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward and NCIS’ Shane Brennan – will see former stars join forces as a new team of highly skilled heroes who embark on a mission to stop a dangerous terrorist.

The cast for the “fun action drama” has yet to be revealed, although Chuck Norris, Kiefer Sutherland, Tom Selleck, Lucy Lawless, Scott Bakula, Jennifer Garner and Mr T are among the names rumoured for roles.

Sly starred as team leader Barney Ross in all three Expendable films, alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li and Terry Crews.

Other stars who have appeared in the films include Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Liam Hemsworth and Kellan Lutz.
