It’s not normal that an actor’s hair length sparks intensive speculation about their character’s future, but Game of Thrones fans are holding on to their last hope.

Kit Harington, whose character Jon Snow was – spoiler alert – killed off in the season five finale, seems to have kept his hair long, fuelling rumours that Jon Snow may not be as dead as he seems.

The 28-year-old was spotted at Wimbledon last week with the character’s shoulder-length curly hair.

Harington has previously told The Independent that his contract obliged him to keep his hair long for the duration of the show, but that he planned to “cut it off quite soon. As soon as I’m allowed”.

So when Kit cut his hair after filming of series five wrapped, fans saw it – rightly – as a bad omen for Jon Snow’s future.

But now the actor has let his locks grow long again, and fans have speculated that he may be preparing to return for series six.

Kit attempted to quash any rumours in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in June, reiterating: “I’ve been told I’m dead. I’m dead. I’m not coming back next season. So that’s all I can tell you, really.”

However, Game of Thrones is renowned for unexpected plot twists.

The actor is currently filming Brimstone, with Dakota Fanning and Carice van Houten.
