Mary Berry has taken TV bad boys Danny Dyer and Simon Cowell down a peg or two with comments about their recent behaviour.

The 79-year-old Great British Bake Off judge had an awkward encounter with EastEnders star Danny at the TV Choice Awards recently, when he stepped up on stage drunk to receive the Best Soap gong and tried to give her a kiss.

Mary told the Daily Mirror: "Danny who? Oh, he was just a drunk chap. I feel sorry for him.

"Actually I'm sure he didn't mean it. I took no notice of him. He was like a naughty boy. It doesn't matter."

Speaking at the Inside Soap Awards after his TV Choice blunder, Danny said: "After my last turn-out I have to behave. I wouldn't advise anyone to accept an award off your head. I want to send my respect and love to Mary, all that silly talk.

"I really admire her and I just wanted to give her a cuddle. It said (was reported that) I accosted her. I was really upset as I love Mary and everything about her."

Meanwhile, X Factor and Britain's Got Talent boss Simon had been mouthing off about the popularity of BBC's The Great British Bake Off, saying: "It's more exciting to see someone like Leona Lewis win and sing a fantastic song than look at a chocolate eclair at the show end."

But as the final of the baking contest attracted 12.3 million viewers while X Factor's most recent Saturday show drew in 7.2 million viewers, Mary swiped back: "Has he seen the ratings recently?

"I don't watch The X Factor or Britain's Got Talent."
