ITV’s flagship daytime programme This Morning is to return with a makeover to its logo, titles and studio, as well as reuniting presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

The new-look teal colour logo, which replaces the old maroon one, is coupled with a gold water ripple effect to symbolise both the show’s Liverpool Dock origins 27 years ago and its current riverside home on London’s Southbank.

Phillip hailed Holly’s return from maternity leave and the changes to the show.

“Without question, we are on fire,” he said.

“This is an all-new look, Holly’s back and we’ve got some brilliant ideas, things that we haven’t done before and that’s quite hard to do in a show that’s been running for such a long time. We are all guns blazing.”

The new titles will now depict Phillip and Holly’s arrival at the studio.

Viewers will see the mother-of-three getting out of a taxi before stopping to buy a magazine, while Phillip walks to a coffee shop where he has a “selfie” with customers which is sent to Holly, who is now getting ready in make-up.

As the familiar This Morning theme music draws to a close, the presenting duo are seen in different outfits walking down a corridor towards the studio.

Holly said: “It’s lovely coming back. It’s strange because although everything’s changed and I’ve had another baby and things are so different at home, you come back to This Morning and it’s like going back to see your old school friends.”

Phillip praised his co-presenter: “It’s so lovely working with Holly because we work at the same speed, our humour works at the same speed.”

This Morning’s editor Martin Frizell added: “It’s a big September for This Morning and without giving anything away our viewers will be treated to surprises from the first few minutes on air.”

The new series of This Morning starts Tuesday September 1
