Helen Skelton delighted and surprised Countryfile viewers as she indulged in a spot of mud wrestling during Sunday night’s episode.

The presenter of the BBC programme was involved in a piece about the sport filmed in the hills of Cumbria, which saw the 33-year-old fending off tackles from 20-year-old wrestler Connie Hodgson.

The titillating segment saw the former Blue Peter host being shown a variety of moves while caked in mud, including one dubbed the “full buttock”.

Helen, a favourite with fans of the landmark rural-based show, was also seen being flipped over Connie’s back and onto the ground, dirt smeared across her face, after getting into a position that resembled an embrace.

She even dubbed the entire experience as “quite intimate” due to the closeness of their bodies throughout the sporty exchange.

The affable Helen was doing her bit as Countryfile focused on female mud wrestlers ahead of Cumbria’s popular Lakeland sports event.

It’s no surprise fans were left feeling slightly giddy over Helen and Connie’s scuffle, with one viewer saying that “Countryfile just got kinkier”.

Another pleased member of the at-home audience wrote: “Helen Skelton Cumbrian mud wrestling a young blonde. Unexpected end to a week off work. #Countryfile.”
