Biography

AM Since - 2003 Majority - 1,937 Born - 04/06/1948.

Education - Whitchurch County Secondary Modern, Cardiff. University of Wales (Bangor).

Previous Occupation - Has been a Mining Surveyor with the Coal Board. Senior Consultant with the Welsh Joint Education Committee. Principal of the Part-Time Aberbargoed Education Centre.

Personal Overview - Retained this marginal seat for Labour after the decision of Ron Davies to stand down. As the former constituency party chairman and someone likely to be knowledgeable about the local area he was selected to fight the seat shortly before the election. Has previously stated that improving local employment prospects, particularly for young people would be one of his main priorities in the Caerphilly area, linking this to improving other social issues.
