Two Caerphilly borough groups get £10,000 grants

TWO groups have benefited from grants totaling £20,000 given out by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust.
Caerphilly Borough Mind received £10,000 along with Yr Arteri Cyfyngedig, which aims to provide people with affordable, accessible and inspirational art activities.
The Coalfields Community Grant scheme, will help Caerphilly Borough Mind to assist to rebuild their confidence and self-esteem through volunteering opportunities created by the grant.
The group was established in 1986 as Rhymney Valley Mind before its name change in 2010.
The grant will help fund the salary of a volunteer coordinator responsible for recruiting, training and supporting volunteers in facilitating activity groups, leading self-help groups and workshops, and helping with building maintenance and stock preparation and retail work.
Yr Arteri Cyfyngedig run by a team of six people with backgrounds in the arts, teaching and finance, the organisation recently opened the Y Galeri arts centre on St Fagan's Street in Caerphilly town.
The facility includes a gallery, workshop rooms, pottery kilns, art materials sales and a coffee shop and also offers community outreach work.
There will be a rolling programme of exhibitions, talks, demonstrations and events throughout the year.
