THE father of a one-month-old girl whose death is at the centre of a murder investigation has paid tribute to "my beautiful daughter."

Ian Skillern, whose daughter Amelia Jones died on Monday, said: "In regards to Amelia Rose, my beautiful daughter, who passed away on Monday the 19th of November, she will be sadly missed, and brought me joy in the short time she was here.

"My family and I wish to assist Gwent Police in any possible way to establish why this tragedy occurred. We ask to be left as a family to grieve at this hard time."

The 43-year-old man and 24-year-old woman from Cwmbran, who were arrested on suspicion of the murder of Amelia have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Officers were called to Waun Hywel Road, Pontnewydd, at around 10.35pm on November 17 by the ambulance service following concerns for Amelia's health.

She was taken to Newport's Royal Gwent Hospital before being transferred to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
