Trains between Bargoed and Rhymney off after landslide
4:08pm Wednesday 30th January 2013 in News
LANDSLIDE: The derailed train near Brithdir this morning
TRAINS between Bargoed and Rhymney will not run tomorrow after a train was derailed by a landslide.
The closure of the line will let Network Rail engineers clear the land slip from racks near Brithdir on the Rhymney Valley line.
A replacement bus service and a temporary timetable have been introduced between Bargoed and Rhymney stations.
Trains will start and terminate at Bargoed with replacement road transport serving stations to Rhymney in both directions. Customers are advised that road transport will depart Rhymney earlier than the planned train timetable to connect to the train services running south from Bargoed.
A spokesman for Arriva Trains Wales said: “We are making every effort to minimise the disruption to the service and we apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused by the disruption.”
