Risca singer runner-up in Tesco talent contest

A RISCA soprano came joint runner-up in the national final of Tesco Distribution’s Got Talent in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Bev Davies, who works at Tesco Distribution Centre in her home town, was joined by 19 other acts from across the country that battled it out for a £1,000 prize at the gala fundraising event on February 2 at Daventry Court Hotel.
Mrs Davies said it was a fantastic opportunity to have fun and help support Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists to beat cancer at the same time.
Now in its second year, the competition, which is open to Tesco Distribution staff and their family and friends, aims to raise £60,000. This will contribute towards the £10 million record target that Tesco staff across the country hope to hit for Cancer Research UK, Tesco charity of the year.
Their fundraising will help support research into improving the early diagnosis and detection of cancer, helping to ensure more people receive treatment at a time when it is more likely to be successful.
