CAERPHILLY council has been shortlisted for four awards by the Association of Public Service Excellence.
The awards recognise local authorities across the UK which demonstrate innovation within service delivery and continuously improve services to local communities.
This year, sport and leisure services and public services have made it onto the shortlist for two awards each.
Waste and refuse management and building and facilities cleaning have been shortlisted in their individual best service team categories while sport and leisure are nominated for both best service team and best information and communication technology initiative.
The departments were highlighted for achievements including; top recycling and composting rates, increasing customer satisfaction levels; having more than 100,000 people sign up to its SmartCards scheme giving access to the leisure and library facilities.
The authority was also praised for improving its actual performance against the previous year. Winners will be announced later this year.
