Caerphilly man held over Nelson baby death refused bail

A CAERPHILLY man has appeared in court in connection with the death of a six-week-old baby.
Michael Pearce, 32, is charged with assault.
Baby Alfie Sullock, from Fairwater, Cardiff, died at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff on 20 August.
Pearce, a father of one, appeared via videolink from HMP Cardiff and spoke only to confirm his name at the preliminary hearing in Cardiff Crown Court.
His bail application was refused and Pearce is to remain remanded in custody.
The next hearing was provisionally set for 20 September.
