NEWPORT Gwent Dragons have confirmed that in-form full-back Dan Evans will be leaving the region in the summer.
The Rodney Parade regions have signed Wales and Lions number 15 Lee Byrne, who will be 34 in the summer, from Clermont Auvergne for next season.
They also have 19-year-old Hallam Amos, who won his first Welsh cap against Tonga last autumn, on their books, meaning that there will be no fresh deal for Evans.
“We’ve got to think of the future,” said director of rugby Lyn Jones. “Dan is a really good player and I am sure he will have no problem picking up a deal with an English or Welsh club in the future. That’s all I wish, that players move on and do as well as they can.
“I’ve made a decision that Lee Byrne and Hallam Amos will be our full-backs next year and I am sticking to that.”
Evans, 25, has been a real success since signing from the Scarlets in the summer of 2012.
He has played in 41 of 51 games and was the region’s top try scorer last season after crossing the whitewash nine times.
Amos has played most of his senior rugby on the wing but full-back is his preferred position.
