Mr Wells was last seen leaving his home address in Gabalfa, Cardiff, at 8.45pm on Sunday, January 5, and is known to have contacts in Ystrad Mynach.
South Wales Police say they are becoming “increasingly worried” about his welfare.
Officers have checked CCTV footage from cameras near his home but it is not known which direction he travelled in and where he has been since.
Specialist teams and the police helicopter have searched the River Taff, the Taff Trail and wooded areas in Gabalfa and Llandaff as part of the continuing effort to find him.
Detective Inspector Julian Bull from South Wales Police said: “We are getting increasingly worried about Ashley, who has left home without his wallet and mobile phone, and we are doing all we can to hopefully find him safe and well.
“We would urge anyone who may have seen Ashley since last Sunday or has any information which may be relevant is contact us.”
At the time of his disappearance Ashley was wearing very dark ‘Criminal Damage’ make jeans, khaki brown canvass shoes, a khaki green coat from Next, described as very big, oversized and very bulky with a big hood with fur around the edge.
Ashley is known to visit West Wales, particularly Newport in Pembrokeshire, but also has contacts in Ystrad Mynach.
