Man who died in in Abertridwr crash named as Evan Dennis Hughes

A 63-YEAR-OLD cyclist who died after a collision with a car in Abertridwr last Thursday has been named as Evan Dennis Hughes.

Mr Hughes, known as Dennis, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff after the crash where he was pronounced dead.

The collision happened at around 6pm on Thursday, January 23, on The Square in Abertridwr, and involved a blue Renault Clio and a cyclist. The driver of the car was not injured in the incident.

A tribute to Mr Hughes by his uncle read: “He was a wonderful kid and we’ve had so many people coming to the door saying what a loss it has been – he was that type of bloke.

“He was a good worker and a generally nice chap.”

Mr Hughes' family also thanked those at the scene of the crash who helped.

Police are appealing for information and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call 101 quoting log 390 23/01/14.
