  • "I was up there on Good Friday and it was heaving. Although, the forest drive itself looked fairly quiet. It's a beautiful spot with the pond and various walking and cycling trails. If the campsite were extended I really believe it would be popular. I camp regularly and use leg power and public transport to get to sites. The public transport links are actually pretty good with the regular bus service taking you close to mainline rail heads. Expand the campsite, promote the transport links and promote the immediate and expanded local area (village pubs and shops, 6 Bells memorial etc). There aren't many place where you can camp in a forest, walk up mountains and along moorland, walk and cycle the canal as well as have comparatively straightforward links to cities like Newport, Bristol and Cardiff for day trips. Cwmcarn forest is a jewel with huge potential."

Campaign Series: Threat to close Cwmcarn Forest Drive - tell us what you think Threat to close Cwmcarn Forest Drive - tell us what you think

WE brought the news yesterday that the future of Cwmcarn Forest Drive is uncertain due to large-scale tree-felling which will begin in November.

Are you one of the hundreds of thousands of people who use Gwent's biggest tourist attraction? Are you concerned that it could close in November, never to re-open again?

If you are, our reporter Emma Mackintosh would like to speak to you.

You can contact her on 01633 777206, via e-mail at emma.mackintosh@southwalesargus.co.uk or on Twitter @argusmackintosh
