A CAERPHILLY man is in a critical condition after he was assaulted outside the town’s Irish Tymes pub over the weekend.

Gwent Police were called to the pub at 1.45am on Sunday, August 24.

The 26-year-old suffered a serious head injury and is receiving treatment at the University Hospital Wales in Cardiff.

Police said a 23-year-old Caerphilly man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and released on police bail pending further enquiries until October 13.
