BLACKWOOD band, Manic Street Preachers, today announced they are to play Cardiff Castle during their Holy Bible tour.

The tour, which kicked off in Glasgow last night sees the band play their 20 year old Holy Bible album in full for the first time.

The trio, who released their 12th album Futurology earlier this year, have added four extra dates to their tour, including Cardiff Castle on June 5 2015.

Earlier this year, fans were left angered after tickets for the event sold out and were then resold by agencies for up to £219.99.

The bleak and abrasive The Holy Bible, was the final album to feature guitarist Richey Edwards who disappeared little over five months after its release and whose fragile mental state was evident in his final songs.

The Holy Bible was named the greatest album of all time in a poll of viewers conducted by BBC2's Newsnight programme in 2005.

A spokeswoman for the group, earlier this year, said: "They have never played the whole record and these very special shows, much rumoured and speculated about, will be must-see events for fans."

Tickets for the Cardiff Castle performance go on sale at 9am on Friday December 12 for £37.50.

Added dates also include Usher Hall, Edinburgh on May 30 2015, Civic Hall, Wolverhampton on June 1 and the Guildhall in Southampton on June 2 next year, all costing £32.50
