TWO half-brothers who stabbed their neighbour in a “vicious and senseless" attack at his home in Risca have both been given life sentences.

Raymond Ball, 33, of Twmbarlwm Close, Risca and Gavin Harris, 28, of Holly Road, Risca, both admitted murdering Stephen Lambert on August 27 last year.

Ball will serve a minimum of 22 years and six months and Harris will serve 21 years and eight months.

Cardiff Crown Court heard that the trio had been drinking together and listening to music at Mr Lambert’s flat in Twmbarlwm Close.

Mr Lambert - known as Lammy - had fallen out with the half-brothers and asked them to leave.

The court heard the pair grabbed kitchen knives and stabbed the 36-year-old five times. He later died at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.

Mrs Justice Nicola Davies DBE said Ball instigated the attack.
