A CAERPHILLY man has been charged with the murder of 18-year-old Conner Marshall who died following a an incident in Trecco Bay caravan park.

The 26-year-old has been remanded in custody and will appear at Bridgend Magistrates Court tomorrow.

The teenager died on Thursday, March 12 following an assault during the early hours of Sunday, March 8.

Conner, of Barry, was taken to University Hospital Wales and had been in intensive care.

Detective Superintendent Paul Hurley, of South Wales Police, said: “I would like to reassure residents and visitors to Porthcawl and Trecco Bay caravan park that this appears to be an isolated incident on a well-managed site.

“Parkdean Trecco Bay Management are continuing to work closely with South Wales Police and I would like to thank both Parkdean and the local community for their support and assistance.

“Our thoughts are with Conner’s family and all those affected by this tragic incident and we are continuing to support his family with specially trained officers.”

The family of Conner said in a statement: “As a family we take great comfort knowing that Conner was a unique, caring and compassionate young man with a warm, infectious smile complete with a cheeky wink!

“We draw strength in the knowledge that Conner was and is brave, protective and loved unconditionally by all his family and friends.

“We are immensely proud that Conner chose to help others in his belief that ’life goes on’ by deciding to donate his organs.”
