DIVISION TWO

On-form Glasgow Accies enjoyed a run feast at New Annieland on Saturday, yet were still forced to settle for a draw against dogged Helensburgh.

The visitors had no answer to the fluent strokeplay of Dougie Lockhart and Damien Greenall, who both hit centuries as Accies piled up 258-2.

Scotland player Lockhart top-scored with 114, but Greenall, whose recent good form has coincided with the return of his opening partner from studies in Durham, was equally impressive in notching 102 not out.

Said Lockhart: ''Damien seemed to struggle in the early part of the season. I think he felt a responsibility to stick around because I wasn't in the side.

''But he's much more effective going for his shots, as he proved again today.''

Despite Vedam Hariharan's four wickets, Helensburgh managed to hold out on 110-9.

However, with leaders Hillhead managing only seven points from their drawn encounter against Weirs, Accies' hopes of promotion are still alive.

So are those of Dumfries, whose excellent season continued with a hard-fought three-wicket win at Motherwell.

Meanwhile, East Kilbride eased past Allan Glen's 93 for the loss of two wickets in a one-sided affair at Torrance House.
