THE impact of the Mini on British life was celebrated at the SECC in Glasgow last night, ahead of the car's 40th anniversary next year, writes Paul O'Hare.

The focal point of the Glasgow Design for Life event were three art cars designed on request by style icons David Bowie, who produced a mirrored car; designer Paul Smith's multi-coloured striped Mini, and supermodel Kate Moss who envisaged a vehicle depicting spider's webs.

Each will be presented with their unique cars following a series of UK exhibitions.
