MPs' CONCERNS about plans to move one of BBC radio's daily political

programmes off the FM airwave are to be raised with the corporation,

Leader of the Commons Tony Newton said last night.

The BBC plans around Easter to stop broadcasting its daily, late-night

Today in Parliament programme on both FM and longwave, putting it out on

longwave only.

Mr Nick Brown, for the Opposition, asked that the change be raised

with the BBC. Causing laughter, he said: ''Many of our constituents

enjoy listening to us on FM -- and at least they know where we are.''

Mr Newton said: ''I will ensure that your concern, which may be shared

by others, is drawn to the attention of the authorities at the BBC.''

A spokeswoman for the BBC said it planned to put the programme on

longwave only and use FM at that time for quality light entertainment

programmes. She added. ''It's making the best use of our two frequencies

to the greatest number of listeners.''
