KILMARNOCK town centre is to be the venue for an innovative
international training scheme for young craftsmen. The contractors who
are improving the Ayrshire town have brought in four German craftsmen to
create a paved area in the Foregate and now Kilmarnock and Loudoun
District Council and Enterprise Ayrshire plan to use the opportunity to
train young people. Town centre pavements are to be resurfaced in
granite and sandstone as part of the #7m transformation due to be
completed in July 1995.
