THE Peugeot Talbot plant in Coventry is suspending production of its

405 model in Britain, with the expected loss of around 300 jobs, because

of falling European sales, it was announced yesterday. The move at the

company's Ryton plant comes at a time when UK car sales generally are

picking up. Ryton will now concentrate exclusively on the 306 model. The

405 has been produced at Coventry since 1988.
