GRAHAM Robertson won the Israeli fortieth anniversary international

bowls singles tournament in Ra'ana yesterday, when he edged out fellow

Scot Willie Wood in the final.

The opening set turned into a dour battle. Wood opened with a double,

but the next 10 ends were all confined to singles. With 11 ends

completed the scores were tied at 6-6, but Robertson then picked up a 3

to take the set 9-6.

Robertson dominated the second set and after five ends led 8-1. Wood

briefly raised his hopes with three shots on the sixth end, but a single

on the next completed Robertson's victory.

''No complaints, Graham played the better bowls and his bowls held a

better line than mine,'' said Wood later.

In the semi-finals, Robertson survived being whitewashed in the first
