August 3.

I object to John Macleod's sneering alliterative attempt to diminish

the newly elected Labour leader, Tony Blair (August 2).

Is John Macleod an overpaid secret agent raking the ashes to

resuscitate the dying embers of the Conservative Party in Scotland?

To try to rekindle interest he addresses himself to character

assassination and conveniently quotes Calvinistic divine grace of which

he has little personal experience.

In his reference to Tony Blair's Christian socialism he also misses

the point, for in Mr Blair's TV interview with Brian Walden reference

was duly made to his Christian socialism.
