Australia's cricket stars have been given a pep talk by Britain's Olympic great Steve Redgrave on how to stay at the pinnacle of sporting success.

Redgrave was staying in the same hotel as the cricketers and talked about the challenges in remaining a sporting superhero.

Yeah, bet the Aussies really enjoyed learning about how to be a winner from some Pom on a boat.

Big TV the secret of White Tyson's success Entertaining to see Ruslan Chagaev, or "White Tyson" as he likes to be known, triumph over 7ft beast Nikolai Valuev at the weekend. Despite being a foot smaller and over 7.5 stone lighter, Chagaev won on points over the Russian giant.

Pre-fight, a plasma television billed as the world's largest - 2.27m wide - was acquired so Chagaev had a screen sizeable enough to get a sense of Valuev's massiveness on tape. Basketball player-sized sparring partners also shuttled into Uzbekistan.

"Sometimes I will stand on a box for Ruslan to hit and get a feel for his size," trainer Michael Timm said. It obviously paid off.

Steaua lawyer goes a step too far Steaua Bucharest almost took standing up for the fans a bit too far this week. Their lawyer was representing a fan who allegedly thrashed a cameraman with a chain at last week's derby against Dinamo. Robert Cristea had his leg broken and received other injuries when assaulted by a group of Steaua fans who broke into the stadium after clashing with police.

Steaua faced harsh criticism for appearing to defend hooligans, prompting them to sack their lawyer. "I spoke to the lawyer and he said he is free to represent whoever he wants, but then I told him we're also free to end our collaboration now," said Gigi Becali, the club's owner.

Mr Becali, a politician, is no stranger to controversy himself: he and his retinue of bodyguards routinely verbally and physically abuse reporters who criticise him, while he has been awarded Romania's LBGT "black ball" award for being the country's most homophobic person.

Will it be Glory for Denzel's son in NFL? John David Washington has been attracting all the attention as NFL Europa's new season began. "They almost see him when they see me," Washington said after being mobbed by fans because he is the son of Oscar-winning actor Denzel. "If they want to take a picture, that's fine with me. The way I look at it they are taking pictures of the Hamburg Sea Devils team."

Washington is trying to prove that at 5ft 9in and 14st, he is not too small to make it in the NFL. Hampering his efforts is that he is playing behind two former NFL starters.

Still, if it doesn't work out, he could always star in Malcolm X: the Early Years. But a word of warning: another team-mate is Dwain Chambers, disgraced former British sprinter. If he offers you any "special vitamins", John, just say no.
