Motherwell cup tie postponed again

By Alison McConnell MOTHERWELL'S Homecoming Scottish Cup nightmare continued after tomorrow's fourth-round tie at Inverurie Loco Works was postponed for a second time.

The game has been rescheduled for next Monday, January 26.

Meanwhile, Well have signed Inverness Caley keeper Michael Fraser on a pre-contract agreement, but current Fir Park stopper Graeme Smith could still have a future.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, but talks are ongoing over a new deal. And the player has welcomed the competition that the arrival of a new keeper brings.

"Michael is a good goalkeeper and I am sure he will be a welcome addition to our squad," said Smith.

"He has a lot of experience in the SPL and will provide good competition.

"I'm still in talks about my own contract and I certainly haven't closed the door.

"But my priority just now is getting Mother-well up the table." Phil tribute night to be held

THE Motherwell Supporters Trust are taking further steps to create a permanent memorial to Phil O'Donnell who died suddenly in December 2007.

The Phil O'Donnell Sports Dinner has been organised and will take place at the Bellshill Hilton on February 21. The dinner will be chaired by Tam Cowan and will also feature two special guest speakers. Tickets for the event are £40 each. By Bert Mitchell HAMILTON ACCIES gaffer Billy Reid today hailed the signing of towering striker Kenny Deuchar as the final piece of his frontline jigsaw.

As revealed exclusively yesterday on the Evening Times website, the 28-year-old has signed on a free transfer after quitting MLS outfit Real Salt Lake.

And after featuring in a bounce game tonight against Dumbarton, the striker is set to be handed his debut in the SPL crunch clash with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday.

And Reid said: "At the moment our main strikers Richard Offiong and Joel Thomas are in behind strikers and Kenny will give us something different as well as an out-ball.

"If you look at every club in the SPL then they all have a big powerful striker up front to give them something different and now with Kenny arriving we finally have that option.

"I have no doubt that he will play an important role for us." Saints ace ignores ban fear

ST MIRREN midfielder Hugh Murray has insisted that he won't change his combative game - despite being just one yellow card away from a three-game ban.

The player is walking a disciplinary tightrope after picking up six yellow cards already this season.

"You can't think about that when you're playing because it could affect you," he said. "When the suspension comes, it comes and I have to deal with it." Danny extends Killie deal

KILMARNOCK striker Danny Invincibile has signed a two-year contract with the Rugby park side.

"My deal was up at the end of the season and I've been happy at Kilmarnock for six years," admitted the Australian.

"I've a good relationship with my gaffer Jim Jefferies, so why leave?"

Kilmarnock have also handed a trial to French striker Laurent Merlin.
