CELTIC today unveiled their latest kit - and already manufacturers Nike claim it is going to be the best seller in the club's history.

That means extra revenue for the Hoops as the £25million five-year contract has bonuses triggered if sales push through pre-set figures.

Nike spokesman Charlie Brooks explained the combination of Celtic doing well, the Asian market opened up by Shunsuke Nakamura, and the fact this latest kit commemorates winning the European Cup 40 years ago have got the fans very excited.

The club are seeking permission to wear the new kit in the Scottish Cup final next month, and it will be on sale the following day.

Brookes expects a huge demand for it and said: "Advance orders indicate it is going to be Celtic's best selling shirt ever, including Seville, which Nike is delighted about.

"We are also delighted to be able to produce the shirt which commemorates Lisbon in such a great way."

All of which means cash pouring into club coffers.

Brookes added: "It is standard for there to be various factors to be built into contracts, including the team's success, and Celtic have had amazing success since they signed the deal.

"Without going into the specifics, Celtic's success is measured by the way contracts like this work."
