Most firms wish to employ disabled people but some are put off by confusion over the "language of disability".
A study showed most employers wished to create a diverse workforce but they often saw politically correct terms used to describe disability as a barrier.
One said: "You don't say that someone is blind, you say visually impaired."
Beth Carruthers of survey provider Remploy said: "We need to overcome the concerns voiced by some employers."
