CHIPPENHAM communications and IT company RFL has acquired two companies with £4m investment from the Business Growth Fund.

It has doubled its staff to 90 by buying IT Solutions 4 Business Limited (ITS), based in Notton near Lacock and Farnborough, and Plymouth based JAD Integrated Solutions Ltd (JAD).

The merged companies are now collectively known as Vysiion. Marketing manager Chris Franklin said there were no planned redundancies. Staff will stay where they are and the headquarters will remain in Chippenham, at Langley Park.

Vysiion CEO Peter Clapton, who was managing director of RFL Communications, said: “Using the platform created by this merger, Vysiion is uniquely placed to go to market with the skills, structure, and critical mass whilst remaining agile enough to be responsive and flexible to our clients' existing and evolving requirements.”

Last month RFL won a contract to supply the turnkey communications package for Dudgeon offshore wind farm.

Siemens Energy Management awarded them the contract to project manage and design the resilient fibre optic LAN and WAN for the offshore and onshore substations, as well as provide the CCTV and telephony systems.

A total of 67 Siemens 6MW wind turbines will be installed, connecting via an offshore substation, with a combined generating capacity of 402MW.

It will be located 20km off the coast of Cromer in North Norfolk and is due to start generating electricity into the National Grid in Q1 of 2017.

Mr Clapton said: “RFL have significant previous experience in delivering turnkey integrated communication infrastructure projects, and are delighted to have been selected by Siemens for such a strategically important and fiercely contended project."
