NYNEHEAD Court in Wellington hosted a very special coffee morning in their Orangery this week to thank inspirational marathon runner Professor David Turner.

Professor Turner, 76, known as ‘Prof’, completed the London Marathon last month in a time of 4:51 to support Nynehead Court’s Mulberry Wing, for people living with dementia.

During the coffee morning he entertained guests with a talk about the experience of running the marathon and brought his London Marathon medal with him to the event, as well as medals from various other marathons he has run including at Boston and Loch Ness.

Angela Watkins, manager of Nynehead Court, said: “We are delighted to welcome ‘Prof’ to Nynehead Court to thank him for his achievement, which has raised a total of £1,468 for the Mulberry Wing.

“He is an inspiration to us all that you are never too old to try something new.”
