A 48-HOUR dispersal order has been granted for Blackwood Bus Station and the surrounding Market Place area.

The order began at 8am today and was authorised by Inspector Carl Williams under Section 35 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The move comes following reports of anti-social behaviour, including drunken behaviour in the area.

The order applies to: Blackwood Bus Station, Market Place and shopping centre, Gravel Lane, the old Somerfield car park and council car parks surrounding the bus station. It also covers all footpaths / lanes providing access between the bus station, Market Place and Lilian Road.

The order provides police officers and community support officers with the powers to direct anyone to leave this specified area if they are involved in anti-social behaviour.

If they return to that area after being moved on, they face being arrested.

Officers will be patrolling the areas regularly to enforce the dispersal orders and to prevent incidents of anti-social behaviour.

To report suspicious activity or anti-social behaviour, call 101. In an emergency, dial 999.
