A PLANE carrying around 200 hoildaymakers back from Tenerife had to make an emergency landing at Cardiff Airport.
The Thomson aircraft was flying to Cardiff early on Saturday morning when the incident happened.
The aircraft landed safely, but passengers are reported to have braced for the emergency landing after the aircraft circled the area dumping fuel before making the landing.
Thomson Airways issued the following statement: "Flight TOM6555 travelling from Tenerife to Cardiff experienced a technical issue. Following standard procedure, Cardiff Air Traffic Control contacted the emergency services to meet the flight.
The aircraft landed safely and all passengers disembarked the flight normally.
The safety of our customers and crew is of paramount importance and we would like to reassure customers that this type of situation is extremely rare. "
