AUSTRALIA will be without flanker Michael Hooper for Saurday’s World Cup clash with Wales at Twickenham after the Wallabies vice-captain pleaded guilty to a charge of foul play.

Openside Hooper was cited for an illegal clear-out at a ruck on England full-back Mike Brown in last weekend’s 33-13 victory that knocked the hosts out.

He did not receive a yellow card for the incident and attended a disciplinary hearing this morning.

It was deemed that the offence was on the lower end of the scale, with a maximum two-week suspension but Hooper’s early admission and good behavioural record reduced that penalty to just the one week.

He will be available for the Wallabies’ quarter-final, against any one of South Africa, Scotland or Japan depending on the results of this weekend’s games.

Sean McMahon or Ben McCalman will be promoted into the Aussies’ back row for Wales with on-song David Pocock and Scott Fardy.
