WALES wing/full-back Liam Williams’ World Cup is over after he limped off in the heart-breaking loss to Australia.

The Scarlets speedster suffered a foot injury in the 15-6 loss to the Wallabies and will not be in the side for the return to Twickenham to face South Africa in the quarter-finals.

The injury leaves Wales with a headache in the back three as they have already lost Leigh Halfpenny, Hallam Amos and Eli Walker to injury while even potential back-ups on the wing Tom James and Tom Prydie are currently sidelined.

It may mean that George North has to move back out wide for the clash with the Springboks with James Hook or Tyler Morgan coming into midfield, although the Newport Gwent Dragons prospect has also played on the wing before.

Williams has suffered an injury nightmare this summer, battling back from a foot problem to make the tournament, suffering a leg injury against Uruguay and a concussion against England.

Wales skills coach Neil Jenkins said: "We are very sorry for Liam, he’s been outstanding in the last couple of years.

"He’s a huge player for us and he did well again yesterday. He will be a huge loss but we have had quite a few injuries now and we have to get on with it.

"If anyone comes in it will be an opportunity for them. We will wait and see what Gats (head coach Warren Gatland) wants to do.

"We have enough players in the squad to cover at the moment."
