The Welsh Ambulance Service has confirmed that it sent to the scene earlier this morning.

They were called after reports of a two-car crash on the A467 in the area of Newbridge and Crumlin

A spokesman said: "We took four casualties to hospital after treating them at the scene; two to the Royal Gwent Hospital, one to Nevill Hall Hospital and one to the University Hospital of Wales.”

FOUR people have been taken to hospital after this morning's crash.

The driver of a red Honda Civic and the three people in a white Renault van are all being treated after the crash near the entrance to Newbridge Technology Park.

Anyone who may have witnessed the vehicles in the lead up to, or at the time of the collision, is asked to call 101 quoting log 42 01/12/15.

UPDATE: 9.19am

There are long delays in both directions between Celynen Roundabout and Crumlin Traffic Lights following the crash. Some traffic is diverting through Newbridge town centre or will use the A472 Hafodyrynys road.

Congestion is also reported on the A472 to the B4471 junction and on A472 to Pentwyn-Mawr Roundabout, Pontllanffraith.

Police are also at the scene of the crash on the A467. They are warning of 'severe delays'.

Firefighters are cutting free people from the vehicles following the crash involving two cars and a van.

There are reports of long delays in the area.
