PEOPLE across Wales are being challenged to step up their activity with a walking challenge.
The Ramblers Cymru’s Big Welsh Walk takes place on May 6 and offers routes for all abilities and fitness levels, for everyone from first time walkers to regular ramblers.
The estimated cost of physical inactivity to Wales is about £650 million per year. People who are physically active have up to a 50 per cent reduced risk of developing major chronic diseases.
Walkers that sign up to one of the four walking challenges, which are supported by the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery, will get a bespoke route guide, a Big Welsh Walk t-shirt, a medal and discounted deals at local accommodation, attractions and food and drink outlets.
Well behaved dogs are also welcome to join their owners on walks too.
