A RENOWNED Blackwood boxer is dedicating his Las Vegas fight this weekend to a Bargoed man who died last week.

Nathan Cleverly will be fighting Badou Jack this Saturday and returns to the American city 10 years after his last fight there.

And the boxer will be dedicating his fight to Ben Thomas - who has been named locally as the 24-year-old who was found dead in the Forestry Centre, in Pont Lawrence Rees Lane, Cwmfelinfach on Tuesday, August 15.

In a post on his Facebook page on Friday Nathan Cleverly said: "I arrived in Las Vegas yesterday and I'm very sorry to hear about another local Bargoed lad taken way too soon.

"The thoughts of myself and everyone in Team Clev are with the family, friends and loved ones of Ben Thomas. Stay strong!

"It's eight days until I take on Badou Jack in the first defence of my WBA world title. It's a crucial fight in my career and it will be dedicated to Ben!

"Rest In Peace, mate."

The boxer will be taking part in his eighth world title fight this Saturday - but the times have not yet officially been announced yet.
