A NURSERY has plundered their treasure chests to raise enough booty to build their own pirate ship.
Last year the Twyn Nursery School asked for assistance from the community and businesses to help them raise money for a play area for their pupils.
They have made a start on rallying the troops and have been rewarded with donations from two businesses. Brinsons Estate Agents gave £100 and Nuaire also gave the same amount.
At the time the nursery raised £1,000 by doing their own fundraising. They have since managed to raise just over £3,000 and used just over £2,000 to build the pirate ship.
Nursery Teacher Tricia John was one of the main driving forces behind the project and is now on maternity leave so Early Years Co-ordinator fir the school, Brenda Bracey has picked up the baton.
She said: "This is just the beginning of our ideas for the playground. The pirate ship was built by Artery and they have designed this especially for the children.
"The children were involved with the designs and how they wanted the ship to look.
"It has lots of different things for the children to play with such as a water feature, a steering wheel and there is a sand pit below the decking of the ship. We have already built a willow arch and we now want to build a shelter for the children."
For further information on helping the Twyn Nursery please ring the school on 02920852527 and ask to speak to Brenda Bracey.
