A SUPERHERO dad and his enthusiastic colleagues have raised more than £800 by dressing up as super heroes to support his severely ill son and the children of Ty hafen hospice.

Paul Fears, managing director of ERIEZ magnetics on Bedwas House Industrial Estate and staff at the company celebrated the 10th anniversary of the children's hospice, in style by dressing up as comic characters for their day's work. Employees were sponsored to dress in a variety of costumes including the companies' mascot, Captain Xtreme, Wonder Woman and Danger Mouse.

The cause is very close to Paul's heart because his son Greg, 18 was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension a degenerative heart disease, as a baby.

The Family were told Greg would not survive to adulthood but advances in medicine and the invaluable support of Ty hafen's staff have meant that Greg has recently celebrated his eighteenth birthday. Paul, his wife Jackie and two children Megan and Tom have been taking Greg to Ty Hafen for treatment for the last four years for respite.

Paul Fears, Managing director of ERIEZ said: "Super hero day has been a great success, we have raised over £800 and are having a lot of fun. Ty Hafen is such a worthwhile cause, My family would really struggle without their help, we can't go on holiday abroad so Ty-Hafen is our holiday, it's the only place we can sleep through the night, they take the pressure off.

Ty-Hafen needs £2.5million a year just to keep the doors open so they need our help."

The company's charity and social committee raised over £4000 for Ty Hafan through a sponsored bike ride last year.

ERIAZ employee, Carla Crosbie, dressed as Super Girl said: "Today has been the best day of fundraising we have ever had and we have spent the least on it, I haven't heard this much laughter at work since the recession began, everyone is definitely enjoying themselves."
