AN ABERCARN teenager is hoping to scale Africa’s highest peak to raise thousands of pounds for the Argus-backed Sparkle Appeal.
Sophie Hall, 17, has signed up to climb Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro next June and is trying to raise at least £4,200.
The former Cwmcarn High School pupil, who works as a receptionist in her parent’s taxi firm and models part-time, said she wanted to raise money for the charity after reading about it in the Argus.
She will by taking part in a number of fundraising activities before she attempts to climb the 5,895 metre-high peak, including beauty pageants and organising parties.
Miss Hall, a Miss Wales 2008 finalist, said: “It’s not your normal, every day thing to do, which caught my eye. I’m definitely looking forward to it.”
